Glorious Fall

Fall is here in Salt Lake City, with lovely blue sky days in the 60s and 70s. Allie and I are taking advantage of every day before I have to go back to work on the 21st. Sunday, she and I took our first walk just the two of us. It being General Conference weekend, and my phone being dead, I decided it would be safe to walk City Creek Canyon without the dogs.

It's my favorite hike, because it's a paved road the whole way and not a ton of people use the canyon. I haven't done this hike since before I found out I was pregnant. I think I was very scared of anything happening to Allie Bear if I exerted myself too hard, so my regular walks up the huge hill in the Avenues stopped. It was glorious to get back out there, but oh man was it hard. First of all, my muscles are out of shape. Second, pushing a stroller up hill is not easy. I thought just walking up the hill used to be hard.

Then, Allie didn't want to be in her stroller. I think she couldn't see as well, plus she wanted to be close to Mama. So on our way back down the hill, most of the time I was carrying her over one shoulder while pushing the stroller. It was definitely a great arm workout! The colors are just starting to turn in the canyon, so it's not real pretty yet, but here are some of our pics from the 4 mile hike:

Yesterday, we did a lap around Liberty Park, but again, Squirmy decided she wanted to be close to Mama, not in the stroller. So instead of a second lap, we sat and watched the ducks and seagulls. She loved that! Calmed her down before we went grocery shopping.

Today we did a little yard work in the backyard, and then it got stormy this afternoon. If tomorrow's nice, I'm thinking we'll head up to one of the ski resorts. I've been seeing some really pretty fall color photos on Facebook, so I think we'll do some good pictures of lil gal while she's awake and happy.
