3 Months Old!

This little gal is 3 months old!
To celebrate, we did absolutely nothing! We slept in, we watched football, and we took a nap. It was the laziest Sunday in quite some time, and it was GREAT! Allie LOVES watching football! Here is her and Daddy watching the (tragic) Broncos game today:

It was nice to do nothing after such a busy week, and it's only going to get busier. Saturday, we took Allie to do Santa pictures for the Christmas card. FotoFly does a great shop at Thanksgiving Point, where Daddy can dress as Santa, so you don't end up with the terrified child photos some mall Santas evoke. Here are a few of the shots:

I love this last one, with her little pinkie toes spread out! But being a model is tough, and she tuckered out as we waited for our prints. That afternoon, I ended up at South Towne Expo Center to do some volunteer work for Junior League selling cookbooks. After a quick dinner of Chilis-To-Go, it was bedtime.

Today, I thought it was time to take some more photos of baby girl, so we had a little photo shoot:

I got the ruffle romper when we found out we were having a little girl. I'm glad we pulled it out today, because it probably won't fit for very much longer! We tried a wardrobe change, but Allie decided it was naptime. Being pretty is tiring work!

While she was asleep, I finally got her nursery cleaned up enough to take some pics. I've been waiting to photograph it until it was done. I'd gotten a few prints for the walls, but not the frames. I finally picked those up last night, and voila! Her room is done!

Her dresser doubles as her changing table. Note the "bird's nest" where we keep diapers, lotion, and extra wipes. This picture also most accurately represents the color we painted her room. I didn't want to do pink, so we went with a purple for her "enchanted forest." The trees are vinyl stickers, so they come off easy in the case we want to redecorate or sell the house.

I'm happy with how this all turned out. Her room doubles as our computer room (small house) so it's so nice to sit in here now that it's clean again and finally complete. Once baby girl woke up, she had just a couple more pictures in her:

Happy 3 month birthday, Allie!

Party Animal

The last few weeks have been pretty quiet around this house, save for a few events. Allie celebrated her first Halloween as a lamb. It was hard to find costumes small enough for her. It came down to being Snow White or a lamb. I figured once she's introduced to Disney princesses, she'll be a princess every year for Halloween. So the lamb won out. And it was so cute! I only put her in it for the day, and we didn't go anywhere. She's too little to trick-or-treat. She didn't so much like the hat, it was a little big for her.

We've been trying to get down a decent schedule during the days. I think we're finally to the point where I can get her and I ready in the mornings, have some time for a couple chores and feeding, and then head over to Grandma's house for the afternoon until Daddy comes home. Unless it's Monday or Friday, and then Daddy relieves Momma so she can go to work. So far it's working, except Luke and I pretty much only see each other on weekends now.

November 2nd is Josh's birthday, so we went to the Fox house to celebrate. Allie wore the very first dress I got her: blue with zebra stripes. It's still a little big on her, and a little summery, but with a onesie underneath, she was ready to party in her party dress.

November 10th is Lucas' birthday, his first birthday actually. And Allie was invited to her first birthday party for a peer. Of course she had to get a new outfit for the occasion:

And after strangers keep referring to Allie as "he," Momma also got her a few bows for her hair. It was a fun party, with pizza and lots of kids. There was even a pinata! Allie has a new BFF, nearly-3-year-old Sam. He took to Allie, giving her a kiss and talking to her throughout the night. At one point, he got up off the couch and said "I'm going to get a book to read to Allie," and proceeded to read to her all about dinosaurs. It was so cute!

One day, Grandma took some pics of Allie in this cute outfit we got from a friend at work before she outgrew it. Which probably happened the next day with how fast she's growing up!

At the end of October, Allie had her 2 month doctor visit. All is well! Doctor checked out her umbilical hernia, and said it's a big one, and she'll probably have it until she's 3 or 4 years old. She said there's nothing to worry about, even had me stick my finger in it to feel how small the actual hole is. Allie is now 22 inches long and 11 pounds 12 ounces. Though now she's probably closer to 12 pounds. Still not bigger than the cat! She's 67% for weight, but only 27% for height. She also has a small head. Sad news with 2 month checkups--shots. She got three of them and an oral immunization. But she only cried for a minute before she was happy again.

Well, Little Bear is talking in her crib, wanting Momma to come hang out. Gotta run!

Interim Post

No, I haven't forgotten about the blog. I want to get a few more pics of Allie in her lamb costume when I have Luke to help me with her, which is why I've been postponing the latest update. In the meantime, I dare you not to "awwww!" over these pics :)

What's On My Camera

I'm behind on our latest adventures, so we're going to play "What's On My Camera?" to catch up. Which is basically what happened in life in pictures, but without the story narrative in chronological order. Up first, Allie!

This pic was taken before we went on our hike up to Albion Basin a couple weeks ago. She's got her adventure pants on!

"Adventure's Out There!" Love that smile! It's showing up more and more these days.

This one was before Barbara's birthday party. This is the cake I made. It's the best angel food recipe, frosted with whipped cream and garnished with strawberries. Allie wasn't a huge fan...

...but I'm proud. And it was delicious.

Allie meeting Josh for the first time

The furry kids! Because they like to party, too.

I realized right before bedtime on October 24th that it was Allie's 2 month birthday. So I wanted to snap a proportion shot so I can start comparing her size as we hit these milestones. She was still pretty much asleep and not thrilled with me.

Now she's happy in tucked in her our bed :)

Last Friday morning, we decided to take Allie to a pumpkin patch and get some pumpkins. She's super excited!

Unfortunately, she wasn't excited when she saw the pumpkin patch charged $18 for her parents to get in and the pumpkins were tiny. So instead, we drove out to a farm in South Jordan.

...but those pumpkins were also crappy. They'd been sitting on the ground too long and the moisture was rotting most of them. Allie is not amused. Also, she's hungry. So Daddy paid for the two decent pumpkins we could find while Momma fed her in the car. I love this outfit on her. I sing her a song about her jeggings that she loves, and if she knew how to laugh, she would be laughing, because she makes the facial expression for laughter. Just no sound comes out.

Here we are with Daddy and Allie on her activity mat that we got from Steph and Josh! She likes the dashboard, which has a crinkly noise like cellophane wrap. Daddy plays too!

Just so happy and easy-going!

This past Sunday, Allie and I met Uncle John for lunch at Chili's and then decided to hike up to First Waterfall in Bells Canyon in Sandy. This was the view from the rock I sat on about a quarter of the way into the hike, where John ran back down the mountain to use the restroom. It was pretty and I got to watch AirMed circle the canyon and then land in that neighborhood. Some dude fell and broke his leg on the trail and had to be lifted out. We could see the command post set up with a bunch of emergency response vehicles waiting. They looked pretty bored. We decided being S&R must be one of the most physically strenuous jobs, because you basically have to speed hike off the trail and then bring down someone without killing yourself or them. I found out later that night that it was a busy day for S&R: seven people had to be rescued across the Wasatch Front. Dummies. It was nice and warm out with a breeze that was blowing Allie's hair all around. She didn't quite know how to feel about that.

Here we are waiting for John.

And we continued on! We made it to the reservoir, but then took the wrong trail. So we never actually made it to First Waterfall, but the scenery was nice, the company even better, and it felt good to get some exercise.

I've also started recording video of Allie. Having had so many family members pass on, I'm grateful that my own family did record a bunch of things, because then they're never really gone. Pictures are one thing, but through home movies I can now show my daughter what some of my departed loved ones were really like. So here is Allie, with her first diaper change of the day. She is always very smiley at this time, because she's well rested and happy to see her parents and get fresh panties on.

Thursday we'll have a more thorough update, it being Halloween and Allie's 2 month checkup. Can't wait to show you her costume!
